The American Leopard Hound is one of the oldest tree-hunting dog breeds in the United States, with roots tracing back to dogs brought by early settlers and possibly Spanish conquistadors. Long known as the "Leopard Cur," it was renamed to better reflect its hound heritage and was accepted into the AKC's Foundation Stock Service.
