Designer Mixed Breed · Afghan Hound x Labrador · Graceful and Friendly
The Afghan Lab combines the Afghan Hound's elegance with the Labrador's boundless friendliness. The Lab temperament usually tempers the Afghan's aloofness, creating a more approachable hybrid that retains an air of grace and speed.
Friendly and social, more so than purebred Afghans. Good family dogs when well exercised. Independent streak remains from the Afghan.
Needs 60-90 minutes daily. Loves fetch and swimming from the Lab side, plus fast running from the Afghan.
Brush 2-3 times weekly. Easier than a purebred Afghan. Check floppy ears for moisture.
More trainable than purebred Afghans due to Lab eagerness to please. Food motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement.
Hip dysplasia from both parents and obesity risk from the Lab side are primary concerns.
Feed the Afghan Lab a high-quality, age-appropriate food suited to their size and activity.
